Where to stay
Accommodation in Porto San Paolo ranges from functional apartments to family-run boutique hotels overlooking the harbor, often converted from traditional coastal dwellings. During the race weekend, expect to pay between €120 and €220 per night for a double room, depending on the proximity to the departure point at the Lega Navale. Many visitors opt for local camping sites or bungalow parks, which are frequent in the surrounding coastline, offering a more direct connection to the sea. Early booking is recommended as the small port village sees high demand during the summer season.
Things to do nearby
The area surrounding the marine preserve is a hub for water-based exploration, particularly sea kayaking and SUP tours that allow you to reach the more secluded coves of Tavolara that are inaccessible by larger boats. For those preferring land-based activities, the rugged trails of the coastal hills offer extensive trekking with views across the strait to the limestone cliffs. Alternatively, the local culinary scene is defined by traditional seafood-focused wine and oil tastings, often held in small, rustic estates situated in the hills overlooking the Gulf of Olbia.
