Where to stay
The island offers an authentic stay in renovated 18th-century stone farmhouses and charming heritage inns that double as local landmarks. You will also find boutique guesthouses overlooking the riverbanks, providing a quiet base before the race. Camping options are available near the coast for a more direct connection to the shoreline. Expect to pay between $180 and $350 CAD per night for heritage-style lodging, with prices fluctuating based on proximity to the water and the level of historical preservation of the property.
Things to do nearby
The weekend is defined by the island's agricultural heritage. Visitors frequently explore the local vineyards and cider houses that define the island's economy, often paired with tastings of regional cheeses and blackcurrant products. For those seeking active recovery, the island provides extensive cycling loops and kayak excursions that allow you to see the river from a different vantage point. Historical walks through the six parishes offer insight into the colonial architecture that has remained unchanged for generations, sitting just a short distance from the race village.
